Harley Street treatments without the price tag!

It can be almost impossible to get help on the NHS for some female issues; one of those is the changes to the structure and tightness of the vagina that can be caused by the changes of childbirth accompanied by symptoms of stress incontinence. There have been treatments such as vaginal mesh offered by the NHS, but unfortunately, some women have suffered from side effects after this treatment and it has been discontinued. Sadly, many women believe that bladder incontinence, pelvic floor weakness and loss of tone and tightness in the vagina are just something that they have to live with.

We are delighted to be able to offer a solution to the problem. We offer a range of treatments that fall under the feminine health category including vaginal rejuvenation, a service that we have been keen to be able to offer after seeing the distress that some women suffer.

Vaginal tissue is just like any other type of skin tissue, in that it’s supported by collagen, which keeps it strong. Menopause, stress and childbirth can weaken the collagen fibres. Along with a loss of pleasure during sexual intercourse, this laxity can lead to incontinence and vaginal dryness.

What problems can vaginal rejuvenation help with?

  • Loss of muscle strength, tone, and elasticity in vaginal area

  • Loss of sensation during intercourse

  • Urinary incontinence

  • Vaginal dryness

Advantages of non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation

  • No surgery is required

  • It’s pain-free so no anaesthetic is needed

  • It’s safe and there are no side-effects

  • It only takes 40 minutes maximum

  • The results are noticeable within two weeks

  • Effects can last up to two years

  • There’s no down time afterwards.

What does vaginal rejuvenation involve?

Vaginal rejuvenation is a non-invasive, non-surgical aesthetic treatment that involves HIFU (High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound). Unlike surgical treatments like vaginoplasty there are no side effects and no down time, and a treatment takes just 40 minutes.

How does it work?

The ultrasound device treats the problem using HIFU which gently stimulates the production of collagen within the vaginal walls. This has two main effects; it helps to tighten and tone the area treated, improving elasticity, and can also improve moisture levels, which helps to reduce the itching, dryness and burning that can be a result of the hormonal changes in menopause. Another result can be that it makes intercourse more comfortable and enjoyable.

Is vaginal rejuvenation suitable for me?

Although the treatment is perfectly safe, as with all aesthetic treatments, there are things to be aware of and it might not be suitable for everybody.

  • You will need to have had a normal cervical smear result in the last three years.

  • Treatments can’t be carried out during your period or any other bleeding

  • The treatment is not suitable for women who have a copper IUD inserted but Mirena coil is OK

  • Treatments can’t be carried out on women with a history of genital cancer

  • You should not have a current genital infection as thrush or smelly discharge.

  • You should wait at least three months after a normal childbirth before booking a treatment

Before a treatment

Before your treatment, you will a thorough consultation and Examination.

What happens during a treatment?

The procedure is pain-free and is carried out using a HIFU which is gently inserted into the vagina. The ultrasound energy stimulates the vaginal walls and activates the natural collagen, which also helps to restore appropriate moisture levels.

The treatment should take 40 minutes to carry out, and you might feel a slight warming sensation, but you should not feel uncomfortable.

Are there any side effects?

HIFU Ultrasound energy has been safely used in the medical field for over 50 years.

There shouldn’t be any side effects after a vaginal rejuvenation treatment. You can go back to work straight afterwards, and there is no recovery time needed.

Aftercare following a vaginal rejuvenation treatment

  • Sexual intercourse should be avoided for about 2-3 weeks after a treatment.

  • Bathing and swimming should be avoided for a week.
